Here we present the before and after images of a parapet restoration, which was necessary due to severe deterioration and moisture damage. The excess dampness had begun to affect the floor below, particularly in the master bedroom, where moisture stains appeared above the exterior windows.
The old coping stones were stripped off, along with the deteriorated plaster. The surface was leveled using a high-quality sand and cement mix, combined with a premium waterproofing liquid.
To strengthen the surface, an EML mesh was installed, followed by two coats of render – a scratch coat and a finish coat.
New coping stones were installed with a 30mm overhang on both sides to prevent water from running down the wall.
A stabiliser was applied before painting, ensuring a durable finish.
The decking on the balcony, which had been removed prior to the works, was reinstalled once the job was completed.
The final result is clearly visible in the images.
A complex job with many aspects, but one that was successfully completed to the satisfaction of both the MALEX MAINTENANCE team and the client.
